Interprint Introduces Four Sustainable Papers for Decor Printing
Sustainability in decor printing is no longer just a material issue. Expectations across the entire value chain have increased significantly. EU regulations, retailers, manufacturers and end customers are increasingly demanding materials that meet environmental standards while remaining transparent, certified and scalable. With Pick Your Green!, Interprint introduces four sustainable alternatives for decor printing. Each solution addresses different sustainability goals while delivering the high quality standards the market expects. The focus is clear: proven sustainability instead of greenwashing.
As a global leader in decor printing, Interprint has been driving the development of high-quality sustainable decor papers together with its suppliers for more than 15 years. New material solutions have been continuously tested, validated and successfully transferred into industrial production. The Pick Your Green portfolio therefore aligns perfectly with Interprint's current EN/FOLD strategy. Unfolding potential and embracing evolution creates new opportunities. This also applies to the choice of sustainable papers.
Cradle to Cradle® Certified Paper
Cradle to Cradle Certified® is widely regarded as one of the world's most demanding sustainability certifications. It evaluates not only a product's composition and safety throughout the supply chain, but also its broader environmental and social impact. For these specialized C2C papers, Interprint can demonstrate that only recycled paper fibers and FSC-certified cellulose from responsibly managed forests are used. Additional verified criteria include sustainable energy generation as well as water- and resource-efficient paper production processes implemented by Interprint's partner, Cartiere di Guarcino.
Sustainability becomes more than a promise. It becomes measurable, transparent and certifiable. This makes C2C papers an ideal choice for companies seeking a certified and transparent circular economy approach. Interprint is also actively contributing to this cycle. In 2025, Interprint Germany generated 44 percent of its energy demand internally while continuing to optimize both production processes and logistics operations.
Recycled Paper
Customers looking for an established sustainability solution with a clearly reduced environmental impact often choose Interprint's recycled paper option. Working together with specialty paper manufacturer Felix Schoeller , Interprint offers sustainable paper alternatives made from recycled fibers that can achieve up to 25 percent lower CO₂ emissions compared to conventional decor papers.
Print quality remains outstanding. The visual appearance stays premium. High lightfastness and consistent surface properties continue to impress even the most demanding buyers.
In 2025, Interprint successfully introduced its popular Tailor Oak decor on this alternative paper grade.
Silphie Paper
Silphie is a perennial crop that can be cultivated for at least ten years. It flowers for long periods and provides valuable support for biodiversity, especially for bees. The unused residues remaining after harvest form the basis of an innovative paper material. Visible fibers create a distinctive appearance. Every surface becomes unique.
This uniqueness is exactly what makes Silphie paper so attractive. What might traditionally be seen as an imperfection becomes a deliberate design element. The result is authentic, expressive surfaces that work particularly well for creative concepts and stone-inspired decors. Designers who want to combine outstanding aesthetics with a credible sustainability story often choose this material innovation developed by Interprint and Felix Schoeller.
2nd Harvest Paper
Since 2023, Interprint has demonstrated that high-quality decor papers can be produced from agricultural residues using 2nd Harvest Paper from Felix Schoeller New Materials.
The concept is simple. Residues from the first harvest of rapidly renewable crops are transformed into sustainable paper. Previously, these surplus materials were often burned, creating unnecessary emissions.
Nothing is grown specifically for paper production. Instead, existing resources are used responsibly and efficiently. Valuable materials remain in circulation rather than being discarded. This is sustainability at its most practical. A true example of a zero-waste approach.
Four Alternatives.
Clear Recommendations.
Which sustainability solution is best suited for which product? As an innovation leader, Interprint offers the right paper recommendation for every requirement. The goal for the future is clear. Sustainability should no longer be an exclusive option. It should become the new standard for products, production and responsible business.
