The future is
closer than we think

Interprint at the Łódź Design Festival

The Łódź Design Festival 2023 is over but the excitement is still there. The theme of this year's event was visions of the future and their impact on the present. Interprint supported the event as a sponsor.

Gen Z entering the labour market, more and more advanced artificial intelligence, the challenges raised by the alarming reports of environmentalists...  All these factors lead us to think more and more about the future...  The future and how we perceive it was the theme of the recent edition of the Łódź Design Festival. Instead of foretelling the future, can we design it together? How do our visions of what is ahead of us affect the present? These questions were the starting point of the festival's talks and lectures. The slogan of the ŁDF 2023 – Future Perfect! is also in line with Interprint's corporate philosophy.

Bold visions and experiments: make me!

Łódź Design Festival began with a gala which also featured a summary of the make me! competition that supports young designers who have the opportunity to showcase their innovative visions. The works presented this year were striking in their sensitivity to the challenges of contemporary reality. The first place in the competition was won by Staza SYGNIS, designed by Maciej Głowacki and Olga Kozłowska (Design Department SYGNIS S.A., Poland). It is an armband that completely cuts off the blood flow to an injured limb, significantly reducing the risk of death on the battlefield. The design was developed in response to the needs of Ukrainian soldiers.

A special prize, sponsored by Interprint, was awarded to Fragment.Vasen (authors: Barbara Koniecka and Maximilian Stahl). Handmade vases made of production waste wood, coated with natural oils and water-repellent thanks to an inner layer of beeswax, are an environmentally friendly and unique alternative to chain store products. The award was presented on behalf of the company by Maurizio Burrato, Managing Director of Interprint Italia and Interprint's brand ambassador, who was also a member of the jury.

Storytelling and its impact on reality

An important part of the festival was the Innovation Block, a series of talks on designing the future, opened by Maurizio Burrato who shared his thoughts on the role of the storytelling in shaping reality and how it will affect communication in the future. According to the expert, in an age of rapid access to information that is not always true (he cited the fake news about the coronavirus as an example), what matters most are messages that carry value. These will be the future of authentic and trust-building communication.

Once again, the Łódź Design Festival brought many important reflections, inspirations and experiences. It also allowed us to look to the future with optimism, thanks to the creative approach and sensitivity of the designers to the challenges of the contemporary world.
